Now that I've given it to her, she is feeling much better. I don't know why, she just really likes her jacket.

Our poor dogs are mostly ignored now that Christina takes the spotlot, but they are still extremely cute, so I think they deserve some time on here as well:

A few quick updates

I owe you a bunch of stuff, but I have been really busy at work and just haven't gotten to it. In the meantime, I just wanted to give you a quick update on things:

- Christina has been healthy for about a month now, THANK GOODNESS! Consdering how the year started and knowing what her winter was like last year, I'm very greatful that she has been healthy. She did have a minor stomach bug for a few days, but it was no big deal and she got over it quickly.

- Speaking of winter, how crazy has the weather been? I feel like winter is never going to end. We are having another snow storm as we speak. Luckily, I have been able to work from home most of those snow days, but today I have to go into the office. I know it is a mess out there, but I basically have no choice in the matter. Did you know that at one point recently every state in the United States, other than Hawaii, had snow on the ground? Pretty crazy that even states like California, Texas and Florida got snow. Back in October when they predicted a bad winter, they weren't kidding. Spring will come eventually though, aaahhh, I can't wait.

- My morning sickness is essentially gone, YAY! I've been feeling pretty good lately. I still have some headache's here and there, some heartburn, the back pain is starting, and I do have the occassional burst of nausea, but compared to what I've been through with the morning sickness, it is NOTHING. And how awesome is it that next Wednesday I have my ultrasound that will hopefully show us whether I'm having a boy or a girl? I am sooo excited!

Now that I'm finally feeling better, I've been taking some pictures. So, here are some 17 week pictures:


I don't even look pregnant here do I? I have still been playing catch up with my weight. With the severe morning sickness, I actually lost about SEVEN pounds. Since I started feeling better, I have been able to gain about four pounds back, so that is good but obviously I still have a lot of work to do. Surprisingly though, I do actually have a decent sized belly hiding under my shirt. Take a closer look:

There's the little baby. Christina even gave my belly a kiss this morning when I asked her to give a kiss to her baby brother or sister. She is just so adorable. And, not to disappoint those that only read my blog for Christina, I am going to try to post some pictures of her tomorrow.

Bumpy Ride

I have wanted to post for a long time now. First, I wanted to post about how I was still utterly miserable with morning sickness, but I was too sick to actually get to the computer. Then, a few weeks later, I wanted to post about how I thought things were getting better, but between feeling sick at night and being busy at work during the day, it just didn't happen. Since last week, I've been wanting to post about how I think I'm over the morning sickness, but again I've been crazy busy at work. I've been writing posts in my head for weeks while I was laying in bed at 8pm trying to go to sleep because I either was too sick to stay up any longer or I was just too exhausted. What a life I've had, lol.

So for about 10 weeks, I put off most of my life just to get by. It got to the point where I went to sleep when Christina went to sleep, I did as very little as possible at work, I didn't do anything social whatsoever, and I even put off paying bills and cleaning the house. I actually started getting use to being useless and I am now surprising myself with all of the normal things I can do again. It is exciting to be able to actually leave the house for something other than work. It is amazing how much I can get done. Funny how two months can make you forget the regular routines you use to have.

One really weird thing happened while I was incapacitated, I kept getting more and more pregnant! lol. I am 17 weeks pregnant now, SEVENTEEN WEEKS! How did that happen? I was so sick (from 6 weeks until 16 weeks pregnant) that the last thing I cared about was counting how far along I was. Since I'm still not showing because I've been playing catch up with my weight, it didn't really seem like I was getting more pregnant. Luckily, the little baby in my belly continued to grow and thrive, even while I was hugging the toilet day after day. Now, I can't believe in just three short weeks, not only will I be getting an ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby, but I will also be half way through my pregnancy. Wow.

2010 in general hasn't been so good to us, but I think we have gotten over the worst of it. In addition to my morning sickness, I got a stomach bug that was pretty nasty. Christina had a rough time with either one very persistent ear infection, or several ear infections one after the other. She got two molars in, which completely took me by surprise, and that was pretty hard on her. She has had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with my Mom and her Granddad, as well as her Daddy while I've been too sick to be entertaining. It has been nice to see how the bonds between them have grown, but at the same time it was sad knowing that I wanted to spend more time with her and couldn't. Thank goodness, that seems to be over and now we can both spend the time together that we have been wanting.

Speaking of Christina, she has been incredibly entertaining lately. I wish I could capture all of the amazing things that she does in video or picture, but now she seems to have a bit of an obsession with the camera. If I take it out, she immediately comes over to grab it and doesn't want to let it go. So, I have two options at that point, either I let her play with it or I refuse to let her hold on to it. Either way, the possibility of taking a picture of her in her element is gone. She'll either have the camera, or she'll be crying and reaching for the camera. My cell phone is a good option, but it is just too slow to get the right shots. Plus, Christina moves so fast that many times the pictures are blurry.

Ok, well I've gotta run. I hope everyone has a very Happy Valentine's Day! I'll try not to let so much time pass between posts from now on.

My 17 month old

- Is slowly but surely working on getting all of her teeth. She has eight teeth now.

- Is so smart (I'm sure every parent says that). She amazes me each day at how much she understands and how many new things she can do. The other morning she actually got up and went into her room, got a clean diaper and brought it to me in my bedroom, knowing that I always change her diaper in my bedroom in the mornings, even though I hadn't even said anything to her.

- Added several words to her vocabulary: night-night, open, down, no more, diaper, Dora (Dora the explorer), ball, circle, belly, jacket. She says "uh huh" and "uh-oh". Also if you tell her that a cow says "moo", she will immitate the "moo" sound.

- Will point to her belly when asked where it is. In addition to her belly and nose, she can also point out her head, ears and eyes. When you ask her where her tongue is, she will stick it out and point to it.

- Is learning to be more gentle with the dogs and has great fun with them.

- Continues to love giving hugs to the dogs, her baby dolls, and her family.

- Gets very excited when she see's Dora the explorer in a book (we have a couple), but she doesn't really care much about the show. She will say "Dora, Dora, Dora" getting louder and louder with excitement. She even sings a little of the opening song while dancing.

- Walks over to the dogs, on her own, to say night-night before bed. I use to bring her over to them, but now when I tell her it is night-night time, she heads over there herself. It is so cute.

- Loves her hat, gloves and coat. She likes to put them on, take them off, play with them, carry them around, etc.

- Is still a picky eater. Other than fruit, her favorite food is Mac and Cheese.

- Has been working on running lately. She tries to go very fast and many times ends up falling, but she is a pretty good sport about it.

- Understands everything we say. When I tell her that we are going to the bathroom to brush our teeth, she immediately starts walking to the bathroom. When I tell her we are going to change her diaper in her room, or that we are going into Mommy's bedroom she starts walking to that room.

- Lately has been taking dives off the couch for fun - as in jumping, head first off the couch and it is scaring the crap out of her parents. I guess she thinks Daddy is going to always catch her, which he does, but we have no warning and so it is scary every time she does it because he barely catches her in time before she hits the floor.

- Misses Mommy and Daddy when one of us isn't home. If I am home with her, she will call out Daddy's name and go to the front door, banging on it and asking for Daddy. She does the same for me if I am out and Daddy is home with her.

- Said an actual phrase/sentence. I didn't believe it myself at first, but Nik caught it on video and I couldn't believe how clear it sounded. She said "I want my Mama", and I have the proof right here. You HAVE to tell me if you hear it to, or am I just being a crazy parent, lol?
