I like a good beer buzz, early in the mornin'

So I was driving to work, listening to "All I wanna do is have some fun" by Sheryl Crow and as usual I smiled when she said "I like a good beer buzz, early in the mornin'". Isn't that a great lyric?

It made me think about the fact that I won't be drinking beer for a long long time. Before pregnancy, I was a beer drinker. You would never find me drinking an alcoholic drink that wasn't beer. In fact, 99% of the time that beer would be Amstel Lite. It was/is my fav. Now I'm looking at a minimum of 6 months without beer and a maximum of 1.5 years (depending on nursing). Well, I guess it will be ok for me to drink a little during those nursing months, but we'll see.

I've done a pretty good job lately of not craving beer. Every once in awhile, like during that song, I remember the crisp taste that I use to love. But then on the other hand, I remember the hung over feeling that I hated so much (which usually followed the next morning). Oddly, being hung over feels almost exactly like morning sickness.

In fact, one day last week, I was definitely either hung over and no one told me they spiked my ice tea, or my morning sickness decided to come back for a short visit.

But oh yes, I do like a good beer buzz early in the mornin' :-)

Today is a great day!

So not only is the weather beautiful today, but I'm also feeling really good today. I feel just like I did before I was pregnant, except now I can actually feel the tightening of the skin on my stomach. I can feel and see my baby bump and it really is getting slightly bigger each day. It puts a smile on my face everytime I turn sideways and look in the mirror.

I was in Atlantic City with my family this passed weekend and my mom was telling practically every stranger we came across, that I was pregnant. It was really cute. Even though you still can't really tell with my shirt on, I was wearing a maternity shirt and it was pretty cool knowing that my little baby bump was under there.

I am also excited today because I am now in my 15th pregnancy week. This is what (I am told) is going on with my baby:

The baby's fingers and toes are already well-defined; eyelids, eyebrows, eyelashes, nails and hair are all formed. Teeth and bones are becoming denser. The baby is currently the size of a Naval Orange, which is about 4 inches and 2.5 ounces. He/she is squirming and wiggling like crazy now and the baby's heart is pumping about 25 quarts of blood per day. At this point the baby might be sucking his or her thumb, yawning, stretching, or making faces. The baby's taste buds have finished forming and he/she will now be able to smell strongly curry, cumin, garlic, onion or other strong smells from the mother's diet. The baby's nervous system is functioning and the reproductive organs and genitalia are fully developed. This week marks a period of rapid growth!

15. Win the lottery

Remember my list, 100 things to do before you die? Well, I just thought of my next item

15. Win the lottery

Nik came home from work the other night and said "Babe, we need to start playing the lottery. I've decided that I don't want to work anymore."

Well that's nice, considering I am the one that will be staying home (when we can afford it) with our children. So, I guess if we don't win the lottery we will be one POOR family!

Luckily, I think he was only half serious.

My Picture Post!

Pregnancy-wise, everything is going well. I'm officially into my second trimester and I'm very relieved about that. I still feel sick at night usually, but I'll take it if it means that I feel like a normal human being during the day.

Since there is nothing all that exciting going on with the baby, I decided to get some more pictures up here. So, here we go . . . (Please note that if you have an old computer, or if it runs slow, you might not be able to view these)

These are pictures from my bachelorette party. We started off at the Hard Rock Restaurant (boys and girls both) and then we split up, the boys went off to a club and the girls went to a karaoke bar.

Here are some pictures from my Bridal Shower weekend. My Aunt was awesome and offered to have it at her house in Virginia, and my cousin Alaina did all of the planning including all of the cooking. They both put together such a lovely event for me and I know my friends and I had a great time. These pictures are mostly from before and after the actual shower.

Here are some pictures from our Rehearsal Dinner.

Our first ultrasound

I know every expecting parent must say this, but oh my goodness, the ultrasound was AMAZING!!! We got to see our little baby moving around like crazy for a good hour while the tech. took measurements and pictures. Our little one certainly is rowdy. He/she was definitely entertaining us even more than we expected.

But other than that, it was just unbelievable to see that little one and know it is growing inside me. All of this time I've known that I was pregnant, gone through the sickness stage, gotten the idea into my head that my little one is coming, but it still doesn't compare to actually seeing it for myself. Plus, we got to hear the heartbeat, which was so cool.

Right before our baby started settling down in there, it decided to do something really silly. It got in a sitting up position, with its legs out and arms up, as if it was flexing its muscles. We all (Nik, me, and the tech) started laughing. Take a look at this . . . . do you see the family resemblance?
