Wiggle Worm

While nursing and/or taking a bottle, Christina does all or some of the following things:

kicks her legs in the air

throws her arms in the air

tries to sit up

tries to roll over

bites me (when nursing)

pulles the bottle out of her mouth, looks at it, screams in excitement, then puts it back in her mouth

scratches me with her razor sharp nails

scratches her scalp

pulls her hair

pulls my hair

tries to rip my shirt off

does the sign (baby sign language) for milk over and over and over again

pulls off, looks at me and gives me the biggest smile, then starts drinking again

clasps her hands together, pulls them apart, then does it again and again

grabs her feet

pulls away so that she can look in the direction of the slightest sound, the smallest object, or sometimes nothing at all

wiggles the entire time like she is doing the potty dance

For some reason I don't think this is normal behavior. So, yeah, I'm sort of thinking I've got a wild child on my hands. Oh boy.

Voting is back on!

I'm sorry for all of the problems with this Battle of the Babies contest. Apparently, all of the technical difficulties have been corrected and voting is back on! Please vote for Christina!

To vote, go here - Battle of the Babies
You will have to click on "C" for the first letter of Christina's name. Her picture is now on the third page, first row, third picture in. Her picture will have her name under it, but make sure it is the right Christina (because there is more than one). You will know it is her because she is wearing a pink and white hat. Once you find the picture, click on it.

You will then have to enter your email address and click vote. If you are not registered, you will need to register (a bit of a pain, but you only have to do it once). After that, you can rate Christina's picture between 1 and 10 (10 please!!!). You can only vote once per day. So, please vote for her as many days as you can.

Thanks so much!!

At Last

Two significant things happened tonight that made me want to jump on here and post right away.

Tonight Christina went to sleep on her own for the very first time! Finally! Normally I have to nurse her to sleep. Lately though, that hasn't been working and I couldn't seem to figure out how to get her to sleep. Last night she was up until 2am! Tonight was following the same pattern. I knew she was tired, but she just wouldn't go to sleep.

I was getting a little frustrated and decided I was just going to leave her be, since I obviously couldn't get the job done. I put on some music for her and told her to go to sleep. Then I left the room, but left the door ever so slightly opened. She whined a little and then whined a lot and when I peaked in the room I saw she had flipped onto her tummy. So I walked back in, flipped her back over, told her to go to bed and left the room again. About two minutes later I was a little confused by the sound of silence. I took a peek and found her completely knocked out!

I can't even explain my excitement. Hopefully this is the beginning of something really great! Maybe I'll even be able to leave her with my Mom one night so that Nik and I can go out. If she doesn't need me to fall asleep, this opens all sorts of doors for me, lol.

On a completely different note, a big Congratulations goes out to my sister Mindy. She is officially (finally) engaged!! Yay Mindy and Chris!! The family has been waiting for this news and we are so happy to finally get it. I am so happy for them and am now looking forward to the big day!

Update on the Battle of the Babies contest . . . unfortunately, the website is still having technical difficulties due to high traffic. All I know is that voting has been delayed until they can fix the problem. I will let everyone know when it is fixed. Thanks for all of your support!

Technical Difficulties

Apparently the website hosting the Battle of the Babies contest is having technical difficulties. I appreciate all of your efforts to vote though! Maybe you can try again later or tomorrow.

Thanks again!

Please vote for Christina!

Thanks to all of those that helped me choose a picture to enter into the Battle of the Babies contest. It was a landslide and the winning picture is:

Her picture will have her name under it, but make sure it is the right Christina (because there is more than one). You will know it is the right one because it is the picture you see above with her in the pink and white hat.

Thank so much!! You are all wonderful!

And just an update on how the little one is doing . . . as she approaches eight months she is learning more and more things everyday. She is incredibly energetic and happy as always. She has been struggling with a cough and some wheezing, but that doesn't stop her from having her fun. The pediatrician thinks she either has a cold or has allergies. We don't know for sure since there is no definitive test for allergies. We are going back to the pulmonologist on Thursday though, so hopefully we will at least know if her medication is helping her in the long run. We also realized that Christina is getting taller so fast, that we can't even keep up. She shot up to 26 inches only a couple of weeks ago and now she is already 27 inches tall. Her weight isn't as impressive, but she is still healthy at 16 pounds.

Playing Catch Up

Here is the latest on my 7 1/2 month old angel . . .

Christina Corinne:

- can sit up unassisted

- is officially crawling . . . but so far, only backwards

- waved to her Daddy (on one occasion)

- grabbed the spoon out of my hands and tried to feed herself the other day

- wants everything that is off limits

- still hasn't gotten her first tooth but is teething like crazy

- loves to play while on her tummy

- will only sleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed or in the car

- really enjoys shopping and daycare

- is completely fascinated with Amstel and Shadow (our dogs)

- smiles at pretty much everything

- will eat anything I give her

- loves to stand and has the strength to do it on her own but not the balance

- knows how to sign the word milk and understands a handful of other signs

- is still the cutest baby in the world

And here are pictures that have been sitting on my camera (some for over a month):
